Our town.

How long has it been since you've toured your city's museums? I hate to admit it, but the last time I darkened the doors of some of the museums here was when I chaperoned the 4th grade field trips for my man-boys, now 24 and 21. Shameful, I know.

Hub and I decided to rectify this situation by visiting the Museum of Alabama yesterday. It exceeded our expectations. First of all, it is free. Secondly, it has been completely renovated and includes many new interactive exhibits. We spent a good 3 hours immersing ourselves in Alabama history. It was not boring. It made my inner-geek happy, and it was much better than mindlessly watching something on TV that adds no value to my life.

We made a commitment to plunge into our city and all it has to offer. We are going to journey through its sites, preferably the ones with air conditioning. I will give honest feedback from our adventures as we travel like tourists through the area we call home. Instead of complaining about what we don't have, we are going to discover what we do have right under our noses!

I'm getting off the couch and getting some culture. Call it a midlife crisis, but I want to enrich my life instead of squander it. I can't afford a brand new sports car, and I have no desire to get botox injections, so this will have to suffice.

Here are a few pics of the Museum of Alabama. I highly recommend it.

This is the entrance into one of the coolest things we've done in awhile.
