Progress!

Last month I shared my desire for minimalistic living after I watched a movie on the same subject. If you haven't read that one yet, take a moment and catch up. I'll wait.

I pledged to remove one thing a day for 30 days to trash, donate, or sell. Well.... drumroll please... I actually did it! I'll admit, I purged large amounts over a few days, but the grand total was well over 30 items! Whoopie! I've shrunk some junk! I will be continuing the journey again this month. If I'm being totally honest, I can't see a huge difference yet, but I know that will change in the months ahead. I've joined a few minimalist groups for inspiration and encouragement thanks to your suggestions. This is a marathon people, not a sprint. I've got over 30 years of stuff to sort through. Lord help me.

As I've scoured sites for ideas on organizing after cleaning out, I've gathered a list of tools for help. I'm starting with the linen closet. My genius idea of labeling the shelves for the different sheet sizes wasn't so genius. My sons did not pay attention to the labels I put on the shelves with such care years ago. There is now a pile of random sheets all crammed in the closet. It's a disaster. If I'm going to do this, I'm not only going to clean it up, but make sure things look cute as well! Below are some of the little tips and links from some of the groups I've joined. Amazon will bring these goodies right to your doorstep! We're in this together. Let's shrink our junk!

But first! Here's my "bye bye bye" bags o' junk from my first month:

Filled about 12 of these over a few days!

Now on to the linen closet!

These little collapsible bins are perfect. There are tons of colors and styles. Store each sheet size in a separate bin and label the outside.

Here is a set of 6 tall plastic woven baskets that will hold a ton of sheets and towels. Another plus? Super easy to clean - just wash them off when they get dusty!

They come in other sizes and cute colors too, like this!

Here are some label sources. These come with the pen!

These would work nicely too! There's a handy dandy pen with this set as well.

Or the simple box of key tags are always stylish. Classic.

No matter what you choose, you'll be so thankful when your linen closet is cleaned out, organized, and labelled. I'm going to do a happy dance when I get all the old, ripped pillow cases out of my house! Here are some pics of the desired look once everything is organized and labeled. Nice, huh? Dream big my friends. We can do this.
